If you’re wondering which season wins as the best, it’s definitely winter. Winter is one of the most beloved seasons because of all it has to offer.

From the holiday season to fresh snowfalls to the comfy clothes, winter wins for being the coziest and happiest.

Of course, you can’t forget that winter offers some of the tastiest food. There’s nothing like being outside in the cold and eating a delicious hot snack that warms you up from the inside. Keep reading to learn 7 delicious and healthy winter snacks.

1. Peanut Butter and Granola Pinwheels

If you haven’t ever experienced these in the wintertime, you are missing out! One tip to keep these healthy is to make your own peanut butter, so you know exactly what ingredients are inside it, and you can reduce the sugar and salt included. Alternatively, you can use reduced-fat peanut butter.

These are super easy and fun to make and will fill you up enough to keep the winter fun going. All you need is peanut butter, flour tortillas, honey, and granola. Spread the peanut butter on the tortilla, drizzle it with honey, and sprinkle on the granola. Roll up the tortilla, and cut it into slices.

2. “Dynamite” Hot Sandwich

A Dynamite sandwich refers to a hot sandwich that originates from Rhode Island. This is the perfect snack to keep you warm the whole way through the winter season. If you’re looking for a snack that will keep you full and fueled, this is the way to go.

It is a messy, delicious sandwich that includes ingredients such as ground beef, onions, and peppers. It takes a few hours to create, so prepare for that, and you’ll be ready to eat a delicious hot sandwich after the hours of playing in the cold snow.

3. Mini Grilled Cheese

This is a flavorful snack that will please most anyone. You can pair these mini grilled cheese sandwiches with a soup or salad, making them both a healthy and fun choice.

You’ll need very thinly sliced sandwich bread, cheddar cheese, sharp American cheese, soft butter, an egg, and salsa (if you want). Mix together the American cheese, butter, and egg, and then stir in the cheddar cheese and salsa.

Spread the mixture on both sides of a slice of bread, then top with another slice and spread it again. Bake until the cheese is melted, or 10-15 minutes. Then, cut into four squares or triangles, and serve!

4. Crab Crescents

If you’re looking for a combination of cozy and fancy for your winter snack, these crab crescents won’t disappoint! They are low calorie and low carb and include a good amount of protein to keep you energized.

The recipe requires refrigerated crescent rolls, prepared pesto, and fresh crabmeat. Unroll the crescent rolls and separate them into triangles. Cut each triangle into half lengthwise, and spread the pesto along with each triangle, adding a teaspoon of crab.

Roll up the triangles and place them on a baking sheet, baking until golden brown. Serve them warm, and you will feel them warm you up!

5. Pesto Twists

Pesto is delicious during all seasons, but especially during the winter. These pesto twists are super easy to make and will keep you full while providing you with a healthy dose of protein.

You will need to thaw your frozen puff pastry and gather prepared pesto and parmesan cheese. Unfold your puff pastry sheets and roll them into twelve-inch squares. Spread the pesto within a quarter-inch of the edges.

Sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and top it with the remaining pastry. Cut into one-inch wide strips and twist each strip four times. Bake until golden brown, and serve warm.

6. Vegan White Hot Chocolate

You can’t forget the warm drinks on this winter-themed snacks list! Hot chocolate is one of the classic winter snacks and making it vegan and dairy-free makes it healthier and delicious.

For this healthy winter snack recipe, you’ll need coconut milk, cacao butter, maple syrup, coconut butter, ground cinnamon and nutmeg, sea salt, vanilla extra, and coconut whipped cream.

Combine the coconut milk and cacao in a saucepan over heat. Once melted, remove from the heat and add maple syrup, coconut butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and sea salt. Add the vanilla last and whisk it together. Top with coconut whipped cream, and enjoy a tasty vegan and naturally sweetened hot chocolate.

7. Sautéed Cinnamon Apples

This is an incredibly simple, healthy, delicious winter snack that will keep you coming back for more. Best of all, you can eat these apples at any time of the day and know you’re eating something good for you.

You’ll need apples, coconut oil, cinnamon, and salt. Peel and core the apples and mix all the ingredients in a saucepan. Cook until the apples are tender and serve warm. This is great for all ages and for on the go, especially if you live with picky eaters (who doesn’t love apples?).
